post-4th jollies  
Well, we did the Chinese food thing, but there wasn't a movie starting early enough that we wanted to see, so we came home started labeling the postcards. I got up this morning and my dad was back at it, bless his heart.

Then we had to move the cows from one pasture to another so they could be watered. Why this issue wasn't figured out and resolved BEFORE they put the fences up... It ended up being me, my dad and Maypo, who is actually getting rather good at this herding thing. If only he would pay attention to what WE want the cows to do, everything would be perfect. But I stood up on the hilly part of the field so the cows wouldn't get to the unfinished part of the fence, while dad and Maypo moved the cows. Getting them to the water was relatively easy. Getting them back into the field was slightly more difficult. I found a blue snowboard one of the kids left in the field (matched my tank top and my eyes, I must say) and was brandishing it and yelling, "Oh, no you don't, you dumb asses!" looking, as my dad said, like a vengeful Valkyrie as I pointed dramatically toward the gate. (You will NOT go up the hill to Valhalla, cows; you will not pass GO and collect $200 - you will go to Nifflheim (or whatever the Nordic equivalent of Hell is) and eventually get grilled as HAMBURGER!!!) They did turn, no doubt wondering what on earth that crazy creature up on the hill was, and eventually went into the appropriate pasture.

Good thing I hadn't taken my shower yet. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate cows?

Now it's time for breakfast and to start back in on the mailing. With a label, a sticker, and a stamp for each one, the process is tedious. I just sent my dad to the post office for 850 more stamps.

The sooner done, the sooner on to other things!

The hypocricy of a goverment denying Medical Marijuana to patients by
claiming it is ineffective while at the same time appying for and

Hrmmm....not sure if these will work from the Mac but I'm going to give it a shot - these should be of William - of Elen holding him when we brought him home, of the day Steph emailed me at work saying, "He won't sleep.....so I can't have my nap.....he's Psychic Baby! I need a foil hat to get him to stop reading my mind......." followed by a series of sobs" this picture was attached......the last photo was the first taken of William and me after he was born - during our trip to Montana - he was about two months old, and as tiny as he was at birth, he was just barely 7 lbs there - still such skinny little legs! He's filled out considerably since -

William Rene Gariepy, the Birthday Boy!  
I will have to get the proper pics to post at a later date, as this is a new computer, they're not on this one yet :( But at least the userpic has his grinny face! If you go onto my multiply site ( cerr.multiply.com you will find in the photo album, plenty of pics of the Baboo in action as well LOL) He was born on the 3rd of July, 2004, weighed in at 5 lbs, 10 oz, but lost a pound or so after a battle with a pressure pneumothorax and being rushed to the NICU where he stayed for about a week. This means that he had a bit of air between his chest wall and one of his lungs which pressed that lung up over his other lung, also putting pressure on his heart - one of his lungs collapsed as a result and his heart and lungs were all pressed against the other chest-wall by that air-bubble...so a chest-tube was put in (as it turns out, Steph and I were in the NICU when it was being done, though they didn't know the parents in there were HIS parents......but I knew his cry and if I could have walked at that moment, I'd have got out of that wheelchair and at least given him the comfort of my touch - something - as it was, I must have made a sound, something between anguish and shock because a nurse turned and saw us and stood by us, having us wait until it was OK to go to him - absolutely devastating on SO many levels, the whole thing. Still, a week later, we were being wheeled out, on our way home - a surprisingly fast recovery for this sort of thing - and as I later found out, William was the first Pressure Pneumothorax baby that they'd had in the Summerlin Hospital NICU! BUT Dr. Asadifar is the name of the doctor who saved him and answered, VERY patiently all of our questions and who we've been able to visit at the NICU reunions the past couple of years to say thank you - and truly, thank you just isn't big enough for what they've given us.
Still, four years later, what a pleasure it is to celebrate our deliriously happy little boy, who loves all things silly, all things "Star Wars", all things "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Baboo", he loves his big sister and anyone who comes within hugging reach......and he loves to be tickled until he giggles so hard that the belly-laughs come. He loves to boog-a-loo......he loves his aunties....he loves to count and learn new things (he's up to 20, though he sometimes misses "18" LOL and he's working on the alphabet now LOL knows all his colors and shapes).
He loves to discover new things, and like a typical 4 year-old....loves being naked.....he cracks me up every day and I just can't get enough of those cheeks, those sparkling brown eyes and his silly sense of humor. Whenever I tuck him in at night, I sing to him a little song, then he starts to giggle uncontrollably, a big sign he's REALLY ready for bed and getting slappy a bit....and he'll giggle, "Hugs?" So I'll go to hug him but he's too ticklish by them for a proper hug, if you go to put your face anywhere near his, he'll giggle harder, it's a sort of nightly ritual now - where I pretend to be all harsh and say, "William, give your mother a hug!" and it'll send him off into even more giggles, and by the end we always have a proper hug and then he's usually asleep straight-away. So, have a VERY happy birthday William Rene! We'll celebrate properly once we've settled in and are not surrounded by boxes and madness - I love you, Baboo. You are pure sunshine.

happy birthday usa!  
What a picture-perfect, idyllic day weather-wise... too bad I spent it sitting at the computer with the blasted campaign mailing list. But it's done and printed - all 99 pages of labels, reduced from over 150, thankyouverymuch - plus the little "Vote August 5th!!!" labels for adding to the postcard. And we've cleared the dining room table in preparation for the Great Mailing List production line... it's gonna be something.

So instead of doing anything ELSE particularly celebratory - how much more democratic can you get than working on campaign materials? - we're thinking of going to a movie. And eating Chinese. Perfect.

House cleaning on the 4th of July  
Yes, I'm sure most of you expected some form of rant, but other than saying "Ding Dong, the Prick is Dead" in regard to Jesse Helms, I'm not in much of a pontificating form.

What I do want to know is this: Does anyone know a safe way to wash hand-knitted blankets? [info]indigo_spice knitted one that is nice, but a bit frilly and it tends to shed little fur balls. It's tiny varmint time in the PNW which means that the wife will get bitten at least 7.23 times a day...whereas I might get a bite or two a week...generally when outdoors. I think [info]indigo_spice's user rolled up "flesh taste good to monsters" when rolling her character up. =/~ Anyway, it's time to wash everything that we sleep on, or more to the point, what His Royal Highness Sir Grendel Floofbottom sleeps on since His fur seems to attract half the yard debris these days.

I'm thinking two ways to go here.

Plan the First: Wrap it around myself like a poncho take a quick shower, letting it get wet and then letting it dry outside.

Plan the Second: Stuff into a pillow case, perhaps 'double bagging' it by using two so the blanket can't get free in the washing machine.

Thory Test - Motorcycle  

In the Uk to ride a motorcycle over a 125 you have to do a motorcycle test, this is split in three, there is the CBT which you have to do before you go out on the roads, I did that some months ago, well 3k in miles ago, then there is the theory test, which I sat today, and hoorah I passed, quite well actually, surprised myself, as I was majorly panicking, feeling physically sick and shaking rather alot, but I did it, so now all I have to do is pass the practical.

I do need to have proffessional lessons prior to that in order to know what to expect of the test, and to know that I am capable of passing, which I am, just need to make sure I have no bad habbits, well yesterday a motorcycle instructor came into the shop, and ordered flowers last minute, which he always does, leaves it till the last minute I mean, and because we always do them, and do really nice ones, he said he would take me out riding a couple of times prior to the test, and the best bit its free, so looking forward to that.

day before the 4th  
Thankfully, it's cool. Even though it's rainy and grey, that's fine by me.

I'm almost done with the mailing list - I'll spend most of tomorrow fixing it and then printing it out, then the rest of the weekend will be spent getting the postcards ready for the Big Mailing. At least I can wrangle the kidlings into helping... And I have to work more on my dad's MySpace page... then my election commitments will be pretty much over for a minute or so.

I also have to get the DDA minutes done, and Cee's restaurant review up on plumjoe, and work on some of the interviews and CD reviews I have pending. And I have to get some stuff done for the Pine Ridge benefit this month, as well as get back on the stick regarding the more formal benefit concert I want to do. I had hoped to get a bit of social (a/k/a musical) life back this weekend, but it's not going to happen. Do the reviews instead. Just got a bit too sidetracked by all the family stuff going on. And the damn cows getting out all the time. I'm starting to nag about the empty freezer and the many uses for hamburger...

Plus the neverending dishes and yardwork and laundry. Three days is just not enough. This whole work thing is just too much interference. Can I please become independently wealthy this weekend?

I love begging for a life  
I hate looking for work. I have many skills, many of them that could easily fall into the "Crazy Phat" category, but looking for work, even online is such a degrading experience.

You are always second guessing yourself. "Do I really have those skills or am I just BS'ing myself?" Fah! I hate it...that and it's hot and muggy. Hot I can handle; if there is a hell it will be muggy.

Hmmm, I thought I had more to say. I posted some comments on trailers on Gypsy's blog...but that is just uber-geek stuff that probably would interest 0.01% of anybody.

It's hot. I have chores. My iPod is krank and I am unemployed. Oh well, I guess it's good that I'm not in Greenland. =)~
